Finding Inspiration at Every Turn
Here at NöMAD, we see beauty in old things. We find joy in turning to the usefulness of the things we already have before we buy new. NöMAD aims to offer unique, quality, second-hand items at affordable prices to our community in the effort to reduce the cycle of consumer driven wastefulness. We strive to provide a memorable, entertaining shopping experience that supports sustainable practices for our environment and respects the rights of workers around the world.

There are various negative enviromental effects from fast fashion. The production of clothing is taxing on water consumption and creates microplastic that ultimately will not decompose. Thirty-five percent of the microplastics found in water globally originate from synthetic clothing materials.
The quality of items produced by fast fashion is very poor due to the speed and price at which they were made. The result of this is products that often times end up thrown away after a short life cycle, ultimately ending up in landfills, where they do not decompose.
The high demand for 'in fashion' clothing creates pressure on corperations to keep prices low while producing as many products as possible, and many of these companies produce products overseas in countries with few to no human rights laws. Child and slave labor is common and employees are paid unjustifiable wages while working in unsafe conditions to keep prices low further down the supply chain.
Fast fashion often follows trends, creating a surplus of items that will likely be out of style quickly and most likely discarded soon after.
Cons of
Fast Fashion
Pros of Sustainable Fashion
Buying second hand can save you $$. Since the items are used, they sell for below retail.
Many thrift stores & eco-concious
brands are small businesses.
Shopping with them supports your community.
There is sustainability in keeping secondhand
items circulating to new customers. Items such as furs or fast fashion products have already been produced, sold, and worn. By buying secondhand, you are not only supporting local businesses, you aren't contributing to the demand of products firsthand.
You will absolutely find a unique sense of style! With all of the different items from different eras, you can break out of the cycle fast fashion has created, and create for yourself an individualistic style.
