Newbies

I had the privilege to watch babies entering the world today… well, metaphorically speaking. Three high school aged ladies stopped by the shop, delighted by their very first excursion to the Flea Market. They were bright-eyed and cheery, full of enthusiasm. The scent of good deals all around them had their eyes wide.

They explored the offerings in my store before heading off with a shower of smiles. Lovely.

I watched as they made their way across the lane to a booth where two *ahem* mature broads had set up a garage sale-style booth with clothes they’d had for ages. I’d talked to these fabulous gals earlier in the day and knew they were out to have a good time and make a few bucks while unloading hoard they’d been hanging on to for far too long.

Moments later, the young ladies came squealing back to me, arms full of clothes. They had uncovered a treasure trove of shorts from the 80s and 90s. High waists? Check. Pleated fronts? Of course, Florals, pastels and plaids? Certainly.

And all for the delightful price of $1 each!

One pair in particular caught my eye. A pair of Zena jean shorts with mis-matched, quilted plaid.

Didn’t I wear these in 8th grade?

I singled them out and gushed to the gals…. THeeeeSE are worth some money. I pulled out my phone and smiled. Yep… listed at $85 on a popular resale website.

The girls dissolved into puddles of joy.

Folks, we have a few new members at the Flea Market, and they have a good eye for vintage deals, even if they don’t know it yet!
